Running program for someone who just QUIT smoking?

I want to start jogging/running. I have recently quit smoking and anytime I try my lungs KILL! Any suggestions?

Start with just a quarter mile a day. After a week go a half mile. Swimming is excellent if you would like alternatives to running.

    You will need to start out pretty slow to get your endurance up. Walk for five minutes, jog for one. Walk for five, jog for one.
    Then after a week or as soon as you feel like you can increase the running time to two minutes. Keep going like that until you can jog without huffing and puffing.
    I am a current smoker and have talked to people who were into sports. This is how they got their bodies more adjusted to the activity.
